Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Christiansburg, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for a full-time day shift (7a-7p). You will provide direct nursing care, assist patients with daily activities, monitor vitals, and support safe, quality care in a busy unit.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, prior patient care experience, and BLS. CNA preferred. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is offered and paid over two years; orientation classes are required during daytime hours.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: Previous direct patient care preferred.
• Licensure: Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
• Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required within 6 months of hire.
• Other: effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills; orientation/competency validation.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Transport patients, supplies, specimens, equipment within the facility.
• Support admission, transfer, and discharge processes and patient flow.
• Maintain EMR accuracy, chart observations, and coordinate with licensed staff.
• Contribute to unit quality and participate in governance activities.
• Assist with registration, reception, and patient/family communications.
