Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System seeks a patient observer to provide close monitoring under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role ensures a safe, clean environment and effective communication with the nursing team to promptly report changes in patient status.

You will stay beside the patient, never leaving them unattended unless instructed, and assist with transfers and positioning as directed. Basic computer skills support charting and reporting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience as a sitter, nursing assistant or medical assistant preferred.
• Basic computer skills expected.
• Ability to recognize changes in patient behavior and report to the nurse.

Responsibilities

• Gives close observation of patients under RN supervision.
• Communicates changes in patient activity or behavior to nursing staff.
• Remains within arm's length of the patient during tests or procedures.
• Records data accurately and legibly and notifies nurse of changes.
• Supports patient safety, comfort and satisfaction.
