Job summary

ThedaCare is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our Appleton team. Under the supervision of the nursing staff, you will provide patient-centered, evidence-based care to meet physical and psychosocial needs, contributing to high-quality outcomes. A full-time schedule includes a 5:30am–6:00pm day shift and weekend rotation.

Responsibilities include vital signs, ECGs, phlebotomy, and supportive care while maintaining patient safety and compassionate interactions with patients and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• American Heart Association HealthCare Provider Life Support (BLS) -Or- Current Wisconsin LPN Licensure.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Performs delegated patient care activities using evidence-based practice for the patient population.
• Checks patients' vital signs, height, and weight as needed.
• Provides compassionate care and responds to patients' concerns.
• Identifies and escalates changes in patient status or risks.
• Collects clinical data and reports to care team.
• Repositions, transfers, ambulates and transports patients.
• Assists with basic needs: hygiene, eating, restroom, dressing.
• Obtains and reports patient intake and output.
• Performs ECGs as directed.
• Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Delivers age-appropriate, culturally sensitive care and ensures patient safety.
• Maintains professional relationships with patients, families, team members, and providers.
