Job summary

ThedaCare is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Cardiovascular-Appleton Hospital unit in Appleton, Wisconsin. This 12-hour night shift role supports cardiovascular patients, with a 3rd weekend rotation and holiday rotation.

The position focuses on patient-centered care, vitals, ECGs, and phlebotomy while ensuring safety and compassionate service. Under supervision of the LPN/RN, you will contribute to high-quality care, engage with patients and families, and collaborate with the care

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; healthcare experience preferred.
• American Heart Association HealthCare Provider Life Support (BLS) is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs delegated patient care activities using evidence-based practice for the patient population served.
• Checks patients’ vital signs, height, and weight as needed.
• Provides compassionate care and guides patients by answering questions or concerns.
• Identifies and escalates changes in patient status or patient risks to prevent crisis.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports to care team.
• Repositions, transfers, ambulates and transports patients.
• Assists patients with basic needs (hygiene, eating, restroom, dressing).
• Obtains and reports patient intake and output.
• Performs electrocardiograms (ECGs) as directed.
• Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection.
