Job summary

VCU Health seeks a Patient Care Technician to deliver direct, age-appropriate care under RN or licensed practitioner supervision. You will collect vital signs, monitor patient status, and assist with daily living activities while keeping the unit safe and well‑stocked.

You will follow care plans, maintain hygiene and mobility support, and participate in safety initiatives. A High School diploma and CNA/MA/EMT certification are required, with CPR/BLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Certification/Completion of one of the following: CNA, MA, EMT, Military Corpsmen/Medic, Nursing Aide Training Program, or equivalent healthcare experience.
• AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent licensure/certification is required or preferred.
• Experience in a healthcare environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, direct care to patients in assigned unit with age-appropriate adjustments.
• Monitor patient conditions and report updates to the health care team.
• Maintain a safe, clean, stocked environment and ensure equipment readiness.
• Assist with feeding, hydration, hygiene and mobility as needed.
• Follow nursing plans of care and infection control policies.
