Job summary

UPMC in Mechanicsburg, PA is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care, assist with ADLs, and support the nursing team across shifts.

The role includes core nursing assistant duties such as monitoring vitals, gathering specimens, administering basic care, and following protocols for safety and patient comfort. You will collaborate with RNs, therapists and other staff to ensure timely, quality care.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering patient care and assisting with activities of daily living.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy, 12 lead EKG, and basic dressing per protocol.
• Ability to report changes in patient status to RN promptly.
• Respectful communication with patients and hospital staff.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care including assisting with patient procedures and activities of daily living.
• Performs core nursing assistant responsibilities (blood glucose, weights, vital signs, I&O, specimen collections and Foley care) AND at least four related tasks.
• Assures equipment malfunctions are reported to the appropriate department and communicates with other departments.
• Establishes professional relationships and contributes to universal unit activities.
• Provides instruction to patients and families under the direction of the RN.
• Communicates effectively with health care team and maintains safety in the workplace.
• Documents in the medical record according to established procedures.
