Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support clinical staff with direct patient care and routine tests. The role includes 12-hour day shifts, rotating weekends and holidays, and a focus on patient safety and comfort in a high-volume hospital setting.

The position requires being at least 16 years old, BLS certification within six weeks, and completion of Mandatory Reporter training within three months.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certified within 6 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Delivers patient care and treatment as delegated by an RN/LPN.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and ambulation.
• Responds to patient calls and ensures safety through rounds and proper handling.
• Records vital signs, glucose tests, and entries in health records as required.
• Sets up equipment, prepares rooms, and assists with procedures.
• Observes changes in patient condition and communicates to the nurse.
