Job summary

NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital on the 11th Floor is seeking a Patient Care Technician - 11th Floor Part Time Nights (6 months hospital exp req). The successful candidate assists the professional nurse in patient care and supports safety and comfort for patients and families.

In this role you will uphold core values, assist in data collection for quality initiatives, and perform tasks such as phlebotomy and ECGs while maintaining infection control standards and supporting admissions, transfers

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Graduate of a PCT program w/ at least 6 months hospital experience OR CNA graduate plus course in EKG & Phlebotomy and PCT certification eligible plus at least 6 months hospital experience.
• BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification.
• Must complete PCT online program within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates NYU Langone Health Core Values in duties.
• Assists in data collection for Quality and Performance Improvement.
• Assists the nurse in reviews and actions regarding patient/family satisfaction.
• Performs phlebotomy, fingersticks for glucose, and electrocardiograms as assigned.
• Maintains infection prevention and control standards.
• Supports admissions, transfers and discharge procedures.
• Provides direct assistance to nurses, physicians, and other staff.
