Job summary

Avera in Rock Valley, IA is seeking a Part time Patient Care Tech to support nursing staff in the evening shift. The role reports to the RN and helps maintain the nursing unit and patient comfort.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, complete a 75-hour Nurse Aide course within four months, and hold Iowa Nurse Aide certification. BLS is required, with influenza vaccination mandated unless waived. Training on mandatory abuse reporting is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
• Completion of a 75 hour Nurse Aide Training Course within four months of employment.
• Current Iowa Nurse Aide certification required within four months of employment.
• BLS certification required.
• Annual influenza vaccinations are mandatory for all employees by December 1, unless a medical waiver is signed and approved.
• Completion of Child Abuse & Dependent Adult Abuse training for Iowa Mandatory Reporters within 30 days of employment and every 3 years thereafter.

Position Highlights

The Patient Care Tech provides patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. Assists the nursing team in maintaining the nursing unit.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Completion of 75 hour Nurse Aide Training Course required within four months of employment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Current valid Iowa Nurse Aide certification required within four months of employment.
• BLS certification required.
• Annual influenza vaccinations are mandatory for all employees by December 1, unless a medical waiver is signed and approved.
