Job summary

Endeavor Health is hiring a Staff Support Assistant in Highland Park with the flexibility to float to Evanston, Glenbrook and Skokie hospitals. The role is full time, with hours 9:00 a.m. to 5:50 p.m., Monday through Friday, and serves the clinical team by assisting with patient care and operations.

You will support patient safety, comfort, meal setup, transport and hygienic tasks under RN direction. The position offers competitive hourly pay and benefits based on shifts and eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Responds to the immediate needs of the patient by answering patient call lights promptly and courteously.
• Performs hourly or more frequent rounds on patients for safety, comfort, and needs/requests as directed by the RN.
• Positions, lifts, transfers, and ambulates patients as directed by the RN.
• Assists with setting up meals for patients and ordering meals.
• Keeps patient rooms tidy, refreshes linens, and removes unnecessary equipment and linen.
• Assists patients with simple hygiene/comfort measures such as washing hands/face and oral care.
• Transports patients to other departments or upon discharge as directed by the RN.
• Stays with the patient as directed by the RN for safety.
• Handles infectious waste and linen per hospital procedures.
• Adheres to infection control standards and proper handwashing to avoid cross contamination.
• Cleans and disinfects unit-specific equipment.
• "Runner" to other departments to obtain necessary items for patient care.
