Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform patient care under the physician's or nurse's direct supervision. You will prepare patients, administer and record diagnostic tests, and assist in coordinating care with the health team.

Responsibilities include vital signs, phlebotomy, ECG, specimen collection, and maintaining medical records. The role involves clerical duties, chart preparation, and ensuring clean, well-stocked examination rooms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certificate from Medical Assistant program or 1–3 years experience as a medical assistant/emergency medical technician/certified nursing attendant or completion of Northwell Health Medical Assistant training program.
• Salary detail notes that base salary may vary by location and other factors.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate and implement patient care plans.
• Measures vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures; documents findings.
• Collects samples and assists in specimen collection per standard protocol; completes requisitions and labels.
• Performs and documents daily calibration of laboratory equipment as needed; notifies supervisor of inaccuracies.
• Performs ECG and phlebotomy per provider orders; adheres to infection control standards and PPE usage.
• Assists physicians and nurses with procedures and examinations following protocols; prepares supplies and assists patient.
• Maintains orderliness of examination rooms; stocks supplies and completes required logs.
• May assist with pre-visit chart preparation and ensure lab results are available for practitioner review.
• Performs related clerical tasks and supports efficient patient flow through the suite.
