Sentara Urgent Care is actively seeking a Patient Care Specialist. You will provide non-clinical support within our Urgent Care Clinic and ensure an excellent patient experience by performing a variety of complex administrative tasks to support patient care delivery. Primary duties include answering phones, scheduling appointments, and answering patient questions. Required Qualifications:
Clinic hours: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Scheduled hours and shifts may vary based on business need and candidates availability.
Scheduled Hours: 2 12-hour shifts, 1 8-hour shift, and 1 6-hour shift. Required to work every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Job Summary: Provides non-clinical support within the clinic/practice environment and ensures an exceptional patient experience by performing a variety of complex administrative tasks to support patient care delivery. Schedules appointments or outpatient procedures under general supervision, to include required coordination of referrals, resources, and pre-authorizations as well as communication with the patient and documentation within the appropriate systems. Provides general administrative support for practice operations such as scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, maintaining notes/minutes/files, responding to telephone and written inquiries from internal and external sources such as patients, providers, insurance companies, etc. Employs a high level of initiative and independent judgment to make decisions about appropriate prioritization and handling/routing of incoming requests and difficult problems.

Three (3) years Clerical, Customer Service experience required. One year experience with Health Insurance Plans, Medical Records Data, Medical Terminology, Registration, Scheduling, or Third Party Payers required. Experience with Electronic Medical Record systems preferred. An Associate's level degree in lieu of the required experience will be considered.
