Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to support patient flow across our Mercy site in Minnesota. This part-time role (56 hours per two weeks) covers day/evening shifts on weekdays and every other weekend.

You will assist with coordinating patient care with nursing staff and physicians, handle admissions, transfers, discharges, and registrations, and perform clerical tasks while ensuring accurate documentation in the EMR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in a medical office or hospital setting preferred.
• Familiar with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care with nursing staff and multidisciplinary team.
• Handle clerical duties: admissions, transfers, discharge, and registration.
• Communicate patient care needs to nursing staff.
• Process physician orders accurately and timely.
• Enter patient and caregiver information into EMR.
• Perform filing, mail, scanning, and faxing per unit protocol.
• Direct patients to care locations and schedule procedures.
• May assist with telemetry monitoring and front desk duties.
