Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nurses under supervision. You will prepare patients for examinations, perform vital signs, collect specimens, and record diagnostic results in the medical record.

You will assist with procedures, maintain cleanliness and stocking of exam rooms, coordinate chart preparation, and perform clerical tasks to ensure smooth patient flow. All duties comply with infection control and ADA essential functions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certificate OR 1-3 years experience as a medical assistant, EMT, or CNA with valid certificate.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate and implement plans for patient care and document relevant visit information.
• Performs vital signs, height, weight, screening procedures and documents findings.
• Collects and assists in specimen collection using proper infection control procedures; handles requisitions and labeling.
• Performs daily controls/calibration of laboratory equipment and flags inaccuracies.
• Performs electrocardiograms and phlebotomy per orders; adheres to infection control standards.
• Assists physicians and nurses with procedures; prepares supplies and patient positioning.
• Maintains orderly examination rooms; stocks supplies and completes required logs.
• May assist in pre-visit chart preparation for practitioners.
• Performs clerical tasks to ensure efficient patient flow and handles related duties.
• All responsibilities are essential functions under the ADA; related duties may exist.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Medical Assistant training program

1-3 years experience as medical assistant, EMT, or CNA
