Job summary

Kahu Malama Nurses in Honolulu, HI is seeking a Senior Center Day Care Manager to lead a growing team and oversee day-to-day operations of the senior day care program. This full-time role requires strong leadership, safety focus, and regulatory compliance in a medical setting.

The position includes supervising staff, coordinating care plans, managing scheduling and payroll, and engaging with families and providers to ensure high-quality services. On-site work with regular hours, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in long-term care, home health, or community-based nursing.
• Previous supervisory or management experience.
• Experience in a medical setting and familiarity with long-term care or social service procedures.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the senior day care program, ensuring participant safety and compliance with licensing and regulatory standards.
• Conduct in-person assessments and develop, implement, and review individualized care and service plans with clients and family caregivers.
• Review and reconcile client medications and coordinate with physicians, providers, and families on changes in health status.
• Supervise, schedule, train, and orient program staff and volunteers; conduct annual home visits and competency evaluations for home care staff.
• Plan and lead activities, special events, and outings for day care participants.
• Maintain client files, care plans, daily census, attendance and charge logs, and licensing records.
• Complete weekly payroll, post staff schedules two weeks in advance, and track incident reports.
• Keep families informed about schedule changes, events, and participant progress; serve as on-call support for families and staff.

• Conduct in-person assessments and develop, implement, and review individualized care and service plans with clients and family caregivers, including annual reviews and updates when a client’s condition changes.
• Review and reconcile client medications and coordinate with physicians, providers, and families on changes in health status.
• Supervise, schedule, train, and orient program staff and volunteers; conduct annual home visits and competency evaluations for home care staff.
• Ensure staff complete required compliance training, and address performance or compliance issues as needed.
• Plan and lead activities, special events, and outings for day care participants.
• Maintain client files, care plans (including Medicaid participants), daily census, attendance and charge logs, and licensing records.
• Complete weekly payroll, post staff schedules two weeks in advance, and track and follow up on incident reports.
• Keep families informed about schedule changes, events, and participant progress, and serve as on-call support for families and staff.
• Support grant reporting, monthly community education sessions, and marketing and outreach efforts.
• Uphold client rights, confidentiality, infection control and safety practices, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
• Ability to adapt care to each client’s current and changing functional level.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Organized, flexible, and assertive, with the ability to work independently and cooperatively.
• Strong leadership skills, along with patience, tact, and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
