Job summary

Kahu Malama Nurses in Honolulu, HI, seeks an Utilization Manager (LPN) to support a Hawaii health plan. If you’re a licensed nurse, this weekday role allows you to apply clinical knowledge away from bedside care in a utilization management setting.

Position is full-time; contract. Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. Fixed pay rate of $42/hour. Requires active Hawaii LPN/RN license and UM experience or direct patient care background.

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN or LPN license.
• At least 1 year of utilization management experience, OR 2 years of hospital direct patient care.
• Experience with UM software, CPT and ICD-10.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Review cases using MCG Criteria, CPT and ICD-10 coding, and health plan policies.
• Document and track reviews in UM software.
• Communicate with providers, members, and internal teams by phone and in writing.
• Lead training sessions using audiovisual presentations.
• Juggle multiple priorities across teams in a fast-paced environment.

Kahu Malama Nurses is looking for a Utilization Manager (LPN) to support a leading Hawaii health plan. If you’re a licensed nurse who wants a weekday schedule away from the bedside, this temporary role lets you put your clinical knowledge to work in utilization management.

What you’ll do

1. Review cases using MCG Criteria, CPT and ICD-10 coding, and health plan policies and procedures.
2. Use utilization management software to document and track reviews.
3. Communicate with providers, members, and internal teams by phone and in writing.
4. Lead training sessions using audiovisual presentations.
5. Juggle multiple priorities across teams in a fast-paced environment.

What you’ll need

1. An active RN or LPN license in the State of Hawaii.
2. At least 1 year of utilization management experience, OR at least 2 years of direct patient care in a hospital.
3. Experience with, or the ability to learn, UM software, MCG Criteria, and CPT and ICD-10 manuals.
4. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
5. Strong written and verbal communication, including professional phone skills.
6. Critical thinking, sound judgment, and strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
7. The ability to work independently with little supervision and to stay professional under pressure.
8. Strong time management and organization skills, plus dependability and self-motivation.
