Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care under physician/nurse supervision. You will prepare patients, collect specimens, document results in the medical record, and assist in coordinating care across the health team.

The role includes taking vital signs, performing phlebotomy and ECGs, maintaining room readiness, and supporting clerical tasks to ensure efficient patient flow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant training certificate or 1–3 years MA/EMT/CNA experience.
• Completion of Northwell Health Medical Assistant training program is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate and implement patient care plans.
• Take vital signs, measure height/weight, and perform screening procedures; document findings.
• Collect specimens and assist in sample labeling, requisitions, and routing per protocol.
• Perform daily QA/calibration of lab equipment and report inaccuracies.
• Record EKGs and perform phlebotomy per provider orders; follow infection control standards.
• Assist physicians with procedures, ensure patient comfort and proper draping.
• Maintain examination room cleanliness and stock supplies; complete required logs.
• Assist with pre-visit chart prep and ensure lab results are available.
• Perform clerical tasks to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate records.
• All responsibilities are considered essential functions under applicable law.
