Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to support patient care under supervision in a busy clinical setting. You will help prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, document findings, and assist with a variety of diagnostic and clerical tasks to ensure accurate records and smooth operations.

You will collect specimens, assist with procedures, maintain room readiness, and participate in infection control practices, chart preparation, and overall workflow management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certificate or relevant experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate and implement patient care plans.
• Performs vital signs, measurements, and screening procedures; records findings.
• Collects specimens and assists in obtaining and labeling lab specimens.
• Performs daily controls and calibration of laboratory equipment; reports inaccuracies.
• Executes electrocardiograms and phlebotomy per provider orders and infection control standards.
• Assists physicians and nurses with procedures; prepares supplies and assists patient before/after procedures.
• Maintains examination room cleanliness and stock levels; completes required logs.
• Supports pre-visit chart preparation and ensures documents are available for review.
• Performs clerical duties to ensure efficient patient flow through the suite.
• All duties are considered essential under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Education
