Job summary

Akumin, a leading provider of outpatient radiology and oncology services, is hiring a Patient Coordinator for our Northeast facility. This PRN role focuses on delivering excellent patient experiences by managing registration, guiding patients through procedures, and ensuring accurate documentation.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, answering calls, verifying insurance, arranging transportation, and supporting staff with post‑procedure instructions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• CPR certification required prior to hire (where applicable).
• Valid state driver’s license may be required.
• Ability to work at several locations.
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Perform patient registration in various systems.
• Answer all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• May verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
• May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures.
• May transport patient to/from the exam room.
• May assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
• Prepare patient instructions and ensure accurate documentation of visits.
• Ensure accuracy of patient records and assist with scheduling and insurance verification.
