Job summary

Emory Healthcare in Atlanta seeks a Patient Care Coordinator to schedule appointments for new and established patients and serve as the primary point of care for their families. In this role you will coordinate return visits, register new patients, arrange imaging and procedures, manage data forms, and assist with provider referrals.

Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork are essential in a busy, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

  • Education: high school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree or current enrollment may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules appointments for new and established patients.
  • Registers or schedules new patients and coordinates referrals.
  • Schedules imaging and procedures within the clinic.

Description

Job Summary: Schedules appointments for new and established patients and serves as the primary point of care for these patients and their families.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Scheduling return visits
  • Scheduling ancillary appointments
  • Registering or scheduling new patients
  • Scheduling imaging and procedures within their local clinic
  • Completing patient data forms
  • Coordinating provider referrals
  • Retrieving medical records Acts as an administrative resource for all staff in the coordination of a patient's care.
  • Works collaboratively with management to remedy or escape patient complaints.
  • Covers for front desk and other back-office staff as needed.
  • Provides basic support for the training of new PCCs and other administrative staff as needed.
  • Completes precertification authorizations as required. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education - High school diploma or GED required.
  • A bachelor's degree or enrolled in a bachelor's program will be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Experience - 12 months of customer service experience or 6 months of healthcare experience in a similar role is required. A
  • successful candidate will possess the following competencies and skills: Ability to provide a high level of customer service; Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; Ability to work in a team environment; Time management skills; Empathy for others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs., 0-33% of the work day (occasionally) Lifting 25 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases, Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
