Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the Nursing Float team. You will assist patients with daily living activities and provide basic nursing care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the unit.

This full-time day position runs 6:45a–7:15p across 3 twelve-hour shifts. Preferred CNA certification, phlebotomy/EKG certifications, BLS, medical terminology knowledge, and at least six months of acute care experience are desirable.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification upon hire is preferred.
• EKG certification upon hire is preferred.
• BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Provide basic nursing care under RN supervision.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe patient environment.

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• 1. Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
• 2. Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
• 3. Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• 4. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• 5. Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (as applicable required):

• 6. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), State approved Certification required.
• 7. High School Diploma or equivalent
