Job summary

Trinity Health Muskegon is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our night shift team. You will work under the direction of an RN to assist patients with hygiene, daily living activities and support quality patient care.

Responsibilities include responding to call lights, helping with showers and dressing, transporting patients for procedures, and maintaining clean patient rooms. A concise orientation period and a rotating schedule are provided, with weekend rotations and holidays per

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA certification or 6 months of direct Patient Care Assistant experience, Nurse Tech, or completion of at least 1 nursing clinical rotation, or enrollment in Trinity Health Muskegon PCA program.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Ability to communicate with diverse individuals and groups.

Description:

72hrs per pp 7p-7:30a

Set rotating schedule to include set weekend rotation up toevery other weekend. Schedule will be given after successfully completing the orientation period. Management does have discretion to change schedule 30 days prior to the start of the 6-week scheduling periods if needed. Holidays scheduled in accordance with CBA

Position Summary:

Patient Care Assistant, PCA works in a collaborative environment to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of a RN. A Patient Care Assistant, PCA is expected to assist the patient in maintaining good hygiene, activities of daily living and to support quality of patient care.

What Patient Care Assistant, PCA will do:

• Respond to patient call lights for assistance or by rounding.
• Provide or assist patients with personal hygiene including showers, oral hygiene and dressing/undressing.
• Transports patients as needed for procedures, transfers or discharge.
• Maintains a clean and uncluttered environment in patient rooms.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Certified Nursing Assistant or 6 months of experience direct Patient Care Assistant or Nurse Tech, or completion of at least 1 clinical rotation in Nursing School, or enrollment in the Trinity Health Muskegon PCA program.
• Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral
• Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing divers perspectives.
• Articulates and demonstrates commitment to the philosophy, values, mission and vision of the organization.
