Job summary

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support the SICU team with patient care activities. The role involves direct and indirect non-professional nursing care under supervision, including vital signs, specimen collection, charting, patient escorting and ADL assistance.

The candidate should have High School diploma or equivalent, a Medical Assistant degree or WV CNA license or PCT Certification, and will need CPR and Glucoscan within 90 days of employment.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient care activities in support of nursing in the SICU.
• Provide direct and indirect non-professional nursing care under supervision.
• Perform duties such as cleaning, taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, charting, escorting patients, and assisting with activities of daily living.
• Manage clerical duties and ordering/receiving supplies.

The PatientCare Assistantworks in asupporting role to nursing by conducting patient care activities. Applicants provide direct and indirect non-professional nursing careunder nursing or medical supervision.Primarily this includes but is not limited to performing duties such as cleaning, taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, charting, escorting patients, assisting with activities of daily living, managing clerical dutiesand ordering and receiving supplies.
Candidates interviewed for this role will beasked to present proof ofrequired degrees, certificates and/or certificationsat the time of the interview. Candidates unwilling or unable to provide said documentation will not be considered.
To be considered, candidates must provide documentation of an 80%or higher score on the Medical Terminology exam, and proof of satisfactory completion of a Medical Assistant degree or Certified Nurses Aide certification.
