Job summary

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a casual, as needed Patient Care Assistant to work in the Cardiac Stepdown Department. The role supports nursing by handling patient care activities, charting, vital signs, labs, and daily living tasks under supervision.

Candidates must provide documentation proving required degrees/certifications and pass a Medical Terminology exam with at least 80%. CPR and Glucoscan must be completed within 90 days of employment, with 1–2 years experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant degree or West Virginia CNA license or PCT Certification required.
• CPR within 90 days of employment.
• Glucoscan within 90 days of employment.
• 1-2 years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect non-professional nursing care under supervision.
• Assist with activities of daily living and escort patients.
• Support nursing staff with patient care activities and charting.
• Perform clerical duties and help with ordering/receiving supplies.

The PatientCare Assistantworks in asupporting role to nursing by conducting patient care activities. Applicants provide direct and indirect non-professional nursing careunder nursing or medical supervision.Primarily this includes but is not limited to performing duties such as cleaning, taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, charting, escorting patients, assisting with activities of daily living, managing clerical dutiesand ordering and receiving supplies.
Candidates interviewed for this role will beasked to present proof ofrequired degrees, certificates and/or certificationsat the time of the interview. Candidates unwilling or unable to provide said documentation will not be considered.
To be considered, candidates must provide documentation of an 80%or higher score on the Medical Terminology exam, and proof of satisfactory completion of a Medical Assistant degree or Certified Nurses Aide certification.
