Job summary

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a casual Patient Care Assistant to work with our team in the 2 North East Post Surgical Department. The Patient Care Assistant supports nursing by conducting patient care activities and provides direct and indirect non-professional nursing care under supervision.

Responsibilities include basic patient care, charting, vital signs, and assisting with daily living activities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant degree or West Virginia CNA license or PCT Certification required.
• CPR within 90 days of employment.
• Glucoscan within 90 days of employment.
• 1-2 years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning patient areas and assisting with basic care tasks.
• Taking vital signs and obtaining lab specimens.
• Charting and documentation of care activities.
• Escorting patients and assisting with activities of daily living.
• Managing clerical duties and ordering/receiving supplies.

Applicants provide direct and indirect non-professional nursing careunder nursing or medical supervision.Primarily this includes but is not limited to performing duties such as cleaning, taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, charting, escorting patients, assisting with activities of daily living, managing clerical dutiesand ordering and receiving supplies. To be considered, candidates must provide documentation of an 80%or higher score on the Medical Terminology exam.
