Job summary

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a casual, as-needed Patient Care Assistant to work with our team in the 2 North West Neurosurgery Department. The role supports nursing with patient care activities, including vital signs, charting, and daily living assistance.

Applicants must provide documentation of an 80% or higher score on the Medical Terminology exam; a High School diploma or equivalent is required, with Medical Assistant degree or WV CNA license or PCT Certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant degree or West Virginia CNA license or PCT Certification required.
• CPR within 90 days of employment.
• Glucoscan within 90 days of employment.
• 1–2 years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing support under supervision.
• Perform patient care activities including cleaning, estimating vital signs, charting, and assisting with daily living activities.
• Escort patients and manage clerical duties and supplies as needed.

The PatientCare Assistantworks in asupporting role to nursing by conducting patient care activities. Applicants provide direct and indirect non-professional nursing careunder nursing or medical supervision.Primarily this includes but is not limited to performing duties such as cleaning, taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, charting, escorting patients, assisting with activities of daily living, managing clerical dutiesand ordering and receiving supplies.

To be considered, candidates must provide documentation of an 80%or higher score on the Medical Terminology exam.
