Job summary

Frederick Health is seeking a patient care companion to assist in maintaining a safe patient environment under licensed supervision. The role supports the health system’s mission and standards of behavior, including compliance programs and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include monitoring patients, communicating status changes to nursing staff, and assisting with daily activities while maintaining privacy and dignity.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills and appropriate tone to de-escalate situations.
• Ability to apply proper body mechanics when moving or assisting patients.
• Dependability and ability to work independently in a healthcare setting.
• CPR/BLS certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history at shift start from supervising RN.
• Continuously observe patients as ordered by physician.
• Maintain sight lines and respond to safety needs of patients.
• Report changes in patient status to RN and bedside staff.
• Adhere to HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
