Job summary

Frederick Health Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Companion for two 12-hour shifts weekly, 7pm–7:30am. This non-RN role supports a safe patient environment under licensed staff and follows all compliance standards. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and pro-rated pay for part-time status.

Responsibilities include handoff from the supervising RN, monitoring patients, and alerting bedside staff to status changes. CPR certification is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Customer-focused service with calm communication and de-escalation skills.
• Ability to observe and respond to patient safety needs under supervision.
• Dependable, able to work independently and carry out tasks.
• High School diploma or equivalent; healthcare program students welcome.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing a safe patient environment under licensed personnel.
• Obtain handoff from RN and monitor patient status per orders.
• Observe patients at required distances and intervene to prevent harm.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to bedside staff promptly.
• Respect patient dignity and privacy, adhering to HIPAA.
