Job summary

OVHC Ohio Valley Health Corporation in Parkersburg, WV seeks a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision. Responsibilities include observing patient changes, assisting with admissions/discharges, recording vitals, helping with hygiene, meals, specimen collection, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.

Qualified candidates have a High School Diploma or equivalent and BLS certification within 30 days of hire. Prior patient care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records the vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.
• Records oral intake and outputs (temperature, blood pressure and other monitoring).
• Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedure.
• Communicates with RN regarding nutrition issues and diet changes.
• Assists department with administrative tasks to support department operations.
• Answers patient call bell and relays messages to appropriate personnel.
