Job summary

West Virginia University Health System in Morgantown seeks a compassionate aide to provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist with activities of daily living, transports, basic phlebotomy, vitals, and patient comfort.

12-hour shifts with weekends/holidays, supporting a family-centered care approach. Prior patient care is preferred; BLS/First Aid certification is required within 30 days of hire where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS or HeartSaver First Aid certification within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care and activities of daily living as directed by a registered nurse.
• Safely transports patients and specimens, and escorts patients for discharge.
• Perform routine phlebotomy and glucose testing per department policy.
• Record vital signs and assist with nutrition and rehabilitation activities.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and report changes to the RN.
• Handle communications via telephone and relays messages promptly.
