Job summary

UF Health is seeking a billing professional to support the financial operations of our practice. The role involves entering charges, applying coding and billing rules, maximizing collections, verifying insurance, and obtaining authorizations for services.

The position requires strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and comfort with patient financial counseling. EPIC experience is preferred, along with familiarity in a team-based setting.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Two years of business/financial/physician practice experience required.
• Knowledge of CPT and diagnosis coding preferred.
• Four-year degree may substitute for two years of financial/physician office experience.
• EPIC system knowledge preferred.
• Associate degree or equivalent coursework may substitute for the one year required experience.
• Excellent communication, organization and problem-solving skills required.
• Incumbent must be comfortable collecting payments and counseling patients regarding financial matters in a professional manner.
• The ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, problem solve and function in a team environment are necessary attributes of the successful incumbent.

Responsibilities

• Enter charges and apply coding/billing rules.
• Maximize collections and verify insurance.
• Obtain authorizations for services and review patient account detail.
• Provide financial counseling to patients.
• Resolve front-end edits, rejections, and information requests to achieve practice goals.
