3M HEALTHCARE is seeking a patient billing customer service representative to handle hospital and professional balances. You will be the liaison among patients, guarantors, attorney offices, physician offices, hospital departments and payers, providing exceptional service on all related calls and emails.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of customer service experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of previous customer service required; billing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides exceptional customer service to improve patient and guarantor relations.
• Handles all incoming calls for both hospital and professional claims related to patient balances.
• Coordinates with Billing Revenue Specialists before transferring calls.
• Collects credit card payments over the phone and records the account.
• Makes outgoing collection calls on self-pay patient accounts.
• Responds to messages and emails within 24 hours.
• Reviews self-pay mail and resolves as needed.
• Updates insurance and demographic information in the system.
• Retransmits claims after updated insurance information.
• Reviews charity care claims and documents notes in the billing system.
• Researches self-pay balances and processes refunds when applicable.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
