Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking a Billing Collections Specialist to perform all collection functions on patient account balances within assigned financial classes. Those on the collections/self-pay team may also represent GBMC in court for collection of co-pays, deductibles, or coinsurances.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of administrative experience, with six months in billing or collections and one year in customer service preferred, especially in healthcare or

Qualifications

• Knowledge of collection procedures, laws, rules and regulations.
• Skill in written and oral communications.
• Skill in performing arithmetic calculations.

Responsibilities

• Follows up on patient and insurance balances via telephone contacts, online follow-up, and letters.
• Ensures secondary billing on accounts with secondary liability and follows up on unpaid balances.
• Processes rejections and inquiries from third party payers and resubmits bills as necessary.
• Responds to patient and third party payor inquiries/complaints via telephone, mail and in person.
