GBMC HealthCare in Baltimore, MD is seeking an accounts collections professional to perform collection functions on patient balances under direct supervision. Those on the collections/self-pay team may also represent GBMC in court for collection of co-pays, deductibles or coinsurances.

Primary duties include following up with patients and insurers, processing third-party inquiries, posting payments, and communicating issues to supervisors.

Formación

• HS or GED required.
• One year of administrative experience, 6 months of direct billing or collections experience preferred, and 1 year of customer service, preferably in a healthcare or insurance environment.

Responsabilidades

• Follows-up on patient and insurance balances via telephone contacts, online follow-up and appropriate collection letter utilization within assigned timeline.
• Ensures secondary billing on accounts with secondary liability and follows-up on unpaid balances.
• Processes rejections and inquiries from third party payers; provides corrected data and resubmits bills as necessary.
• Ensures late charge billing and proper posting to accounts.
• Responds to patient and third party payor inquiries/complaints via telephone, mail and in person.
• Reconciles third party payment vouchers and ensures proper reimbursement.
• Identifies and communicates problems, issues and negative trends for third party payers to the team coordinator or supervisor for investigation.
• Those on the collections/self-pay team will also serve as a representative of GBMC in court for collection of co-pays, deductibles or coinsurances.
