Job summary

NYU Langone Florida is seeking a Customer Service Representative I to be the first point of contact for patients regarding balances, benefits, and insurance. You will handle calls and electronic messages, log data in the billing CRM, and follow protocols to resolve inquiries with empathy and professionalism.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 1 year in a customer service or billing role, knowledge of CPT/ICD10, and comfort using Epic CRM; familiarity with Microsoft Office and CRM

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; college credits preferred.
• Experience in customer service, medical billing, or insurance preferred.
• Typing speed >= 35 wpm.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 billing codes.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform billing tasks: answer calls, log data in CRM, enter data, outbound calls, and follow-ups; process payments.
• Route calls to other teams as needed and assist with billing procedures.
• Work in assigned queues and follow manager instructions.
• Identify credentialing issues and address them with management.
• Follow training workflows and request assistance when needed.
• Utilize billing resources to resolve patient balances and questions.
• Enter account notes in Epic CRM and other systems with standard formatting.
• Review unpaid balances and unresolved inquiries and call patients per protocol.
• Ensure timely resolution within assigned timeframes; comply with policies and confidentiality.
• Communicate with providers, patients, coders, and third parties to ensure proper claims processing.
• Collaborate with provider offices on patient issues and participate in meetings/trainings.
• Apply policies to daily decisions and participate in continuous improvement.
