Job summary

Altus Community Healthcare is seeking a Patient Advocate in the Billing Office to deliver excellent customer service, resolve billing questions, and manage patient balances with HIPAA compliance. The role requires experience in medical billing and strong communication with patients and internal teams.

Hybrid shift; responsibilities include handling statements, EOBs, and payment plans, while maintaining accurate records and contributing to process improvements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 3-4 years’ customer service experience a must.
• 1-2 years’ experience in medical billing.
• Understanding of EOBs and patient responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills with internal and external clients.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure delivery of excellent customer service; coordinate with team to resolve issues.
• Handle patient calls about statements, EOBs, and services; process refunds and account adjustments.
• Conduct outbound follow-up calls to ensure positive patient experience with the facility.
• Perform outbound calls and attempt soft collections on patient balances.
• Negotiate payment plans per guidelines.
• Field complaints about facility/clinical care; log and forward to manager.
• Follow up to ensure resolution of complaints or issues.
• Monitor daily/monthly reports to ensure balance is due for in-network ER benefits and update status.
