Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced Patient Billing Associate to deliver exceptional financial services to patients and guarantors. You will handle high call volumes, interpret insurance information, and guide customers through the billing process in English and Spanish.

Successful candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED, 2 years in customer service, and familiarity with hospital billing. The role is full-time with standard hours and opportunities for advancement within Advocate

Qualifications

• Experience with Epic's Resolute Hospital or Resolute Professional billing applications preferred.
• Working knowledge of professional and hospital billing and follow-up preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA standards, medical terminology, and billing practices preferred.
• Bi-lingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; associates degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers an exceptional patient financial experience by handling inquiries professionally by phone or other means.
• Manages a high volume of inbound calls and determines the appropriate path for resolution.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service and communicates with patients, guarantors, and other contacts.
• Responds to and documents inquiries regarding hospital and professional visits in the patient billing system.
• Understands billing processes of Physician and Hospital Offices and routes accounts for resolution.
• Reads insurance correspondence and understands benefits and reimbursement terms.
• Performs updates to insurance coverage and demographics in the billing system.
• Analyzes balances and provides consultative services to establish efficient resolutions.
• Promotes payment arrangements and communicates payment options to guarantors.
• Meets productivity and quality assurance goals and participates in trainee program for promotion.
