Care New England is seeking a Billing Assistant to address patient questions, explain charges, and resolve issues related to billing and payments.

You will assess eligibility for medical coverage programs, assist with charity care applications, and coordinate with insurers to ensure accurate, timely billing.

Strong customer service skills, knowledge of Epic EHR and Excel, and a commitment to confidentiality are required. Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years of customer service experience in healthcare or business environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of word processing, Excel, and EHR systems (Epic).
• Knowledge of third party payers preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication with internal and external customers.

Responsabilités

• Effectively interpret and explain charges, services, insurance requirements, out-of-pocket expenses and hospital policies.
• Ensure accurate billing information is obtained, updated, and forwarded to the biller.
• Advise uninsured/underinsured patients about insurance programs and charity care; assist with applications.
• Apply Care New England discount policies and develop payment schedules.
• Communicate with staff, insurers, and attorneys to resolve patient inquiries.
• Process patient correspondence to ensure timely collections.
• Report critical billing trends to management and suggest process improvements.
• Support colleagues to meet department goals and protect patient confidentiality.
