Job summary

Access Community Health Network is seeking a Patient Benefits Specialist to work on ACCESS Genesis in Des Plaines, IL. You will assess insurance benefits, guide patients on financial options, and support enrollment decisions within a collaborative care team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years of customer service experience.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Marketplace insurance, and HMO regulations preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Explain financial requirements and benefits to patients, obtaining required forms and signatures.
• Screen patients for benefits, insurance coverage, and eligibility for grants or assistance programs.
• Verify patients' coverage and explain options to patients and families.
• Assist with program enrollment, based on financial assessments.
• Update patient benefit information in the EHR and upload documentation with accuracy.
• Maintain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Marketplace, HMO rules and regulations.
• Assist with Medicaid applications and annual redetermination.
• Coordinate with providers and staff to support patient care and navigate revenue cycle.
• Uphold HIPAA standards and address patient concerns professionally.
• Other duties as assigned.
