UPMC Horizon-Greenville is currently hiring a full-time Patient Associate (Phlebotomist) to support our Outpatient Center. This position works primarily from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with every other Saturday from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and has no on-call or holiday responsibilities. Travel to Hermitage Specialty Care and UPMC-Shenango Valley Outpatient Centers is required.

Candidates with registration and phlebotomy education or experience are encouraged to apply!

Responsibilities:

1. Utilize spare time to benefit the unit, patients, and co-workers.
2. Contribute to the efficient operation and management of the department.
3. Obtain signatures from patients or family members for consent to treatment and financial responsibility, following HIPAA rules and regulations.
4. Present oneself professionally in attire and etiquette.
5. Demonstrate cost consciousness through efficient use of resources.
6. Instruct patients on collection procedures for laboratory specimens.
7. Establish and maintain good rapport with medical staff, co-workers, supervisors, and others.
8. Exhibit integrity, courtesy, and respect for others.
9. Maintain confidentiality of hospital and department information.
10. Follow established policies, procedures, and protocols to positively affect patient outcomes.
11. Perform and document EKGs.
12. Procure specimens via venipuncture, swab, heel stick, and fingerstick, following proper procedures and patient identification protocols.
13. Maintain effective communication internally and externally.
14. Process laboratory specimens, requisitions, and orders from internal and external facilities.
15. Participate in collecting and communicating data about patients' health status.
16. Provide directions within the facility.
17. Promote the hospital's image and maintain a positive attitude toward staff, physicians, visitors, and the community.
18. Perform test ordering, charging, patient registration, and billing tasks accurately.
19. Record patient payments at the time of service.
