Job Description - Lab Associate I/Phlebotomist (SEIU) – Full Time – Cambridge (124627)

SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs venipuncture and skin puncture on patients. Obtains blood samples from patients and may deliver samples to the laboratory. Administers EKG tests and Holter Monitors. Performs clerical duties involving test results and patient charges. Provides factual information concerning laboratory tests, according to standard procedure.
High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit required or non-U.S. High School diploma deemed equivalent after evaluation of the diploma by either Center for Educational Documentation (CED) or North American Education Group (NAEG) (or equivalent education, training or experience). American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.
Previous experience or education in a health-related field helpful.
Good communication skills. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
