Job summary

Qualifications

• Reading and numerical competency.
• Minimum of 6 months general public contact in person or by phone. Preferably in a healthcare setting or healthcare insurance setting.
• Must be able to handle detail work accurately and rapidly, interact with co-workers and other departments; possess good listening, verbal and written communication skills; handle high stress situations; basic computer and internet experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs Pre-Admission and Admission services to all patients in all areas of the hospital.
• Identifies patient and maintains accurate patient information within the EMR.
• Collects Financial information including payment from the patient/guarantor.
• Obtains insurance information, benefits and obtains authorizations for services.
• Calculates insurance company co-payments, deductibles and collects financial responsibility due from patients at time of admission or discharge.
• Obtains Medical and Financial Consents, secures signatures on required documents.
• Provides information to patients concerning Patient Rights, Privacy and Advance Care Directives.
