Job summary

UCI Health is seeking an Authorization Specialist to process member authorizations, verify eligibility, and obtain benefit information. The role also handles inquiries from Member Services and Call Center while resolving authorization issues in a timely manner.

The incumbent will work within established guidelines, ensuring accurate letters for authorizations and efficient workflow across departments at UCI Health.

Qualifications

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Must be able to work weekends/holidays.
• Demonstrated experience using office equipment such as a printer, copier, fax, scanner.
• Demonstrated experience using multi-line telephone system.
• Demonstrated experience using a computer, including data entry and retrieval.
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to make simple calculations and perform simple math.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
• Ability to effectively read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Obtain all necessary authorizations per guidelines and verify eligibility.
• Obtain benefit information and generate letters for authorizations.
• Respond to Member Services and Call Center inquiries and resolve authorization issues.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure timely processing of authorizations.
