Position Overview

The Atlantic Region CBO is seeking a dynamic and talented Patient Accounts Specialist. The Patient Accounts Specialist is responsible for handling first-line inquiries via phone and written correspondence concerning patient accounts from patients or insurance companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Document all inquiries concerning patient accounts, including those from patients and third-party payers.
  • Serve as the first point of support for patients or third-party payers contacting the facility with questions about accounts or claims.
  • Identify root causes of issues and attempt resolution.
  • Record and communicate resolutions in the Patient Accounting System.
  • Escalate problematic accounts to management for assistance.
  • Communicate resolutions clearly to responsible parties or guarantors.
  • Respond within 24 hours to patient inquiries, providing updates and research as needed.
  • Collaborate with facility and internal departments to investigate and resolve account issues.
  • Maintain knowledge of call routing and patient accounting systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 1-3 years customer service experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Customer-focused with strong attention to detail, multi-tasking ability, and excellent communication skills.
  • Healthcare business office experience preferred.
