Metropolitan Behavioral Health, part of UHS, seeks a Patient Account Rep to manage patient statements for in-house and discharged patients. The role includes follow-up collections, maintaining financial records, and advising patients and families on hospital billing policies.

The position is in-person in Dearborn, MI, with duties that include benefits verification, Medicaid applications, and related clerical responsibilities in a busy behavioral health setting.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED is required; medical billing certificate and/or training is preferred
• Experience: Two-years of medical business office experience is strongly preferred.

• Maintains patient financial file and documents; explains hospital policies to patients/guarantors/families.

Metropolitan Behavioral Health (a UHS Facility)

A growing 144-bed behavioral health facility – Metropolitan Behavioral Hospital provides a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, including specialty programs to serve adolescents, adults and older adults, and perform behavioral health assessments 24 hours a day. Additionally, programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues are offered to meet the unique needs of this patient population. The facility provides a robust outpatient program utilizing a combination of group, family and individual therapy.

Position Summary

The Patient Account Rep (PAR) processes all statements on in-house and discharged patients. Maintains follow-up and collection activity including letters, telephone and personal contact. Maintains patient financial file and documentation, advises, informs and assists the patient/guarantor/family in regard to hospital financial policies. Performs o ther related duties include, but not limited to verification of benefits, patient financial assessments, assisting patients with Medicaid Applications and other various clerical responsibilities as assigned.
