Job summary

BCMH Physician Group seeks a Patient Account Clerk to support the Revenue Cycle team. The role handles billing data entry, claim submission, and daily follow-up on claims with insurers and patients.

You will maintain trial balances, resolve billing questions, and ensure accuracy across multiple departments. The position requires high school completion, strong typing and data processing skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Billing education certification or equivalent experience preferred.
• Training or experience in business office practice, English, typing and data processing; some office experience desirable; some medical background desirable.
• Must possess accurate typing, filing, and retrieval skills; good verbal and written communication.
• Ability to handle confidential financial and medical information with discretion; work unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and inputs data required for billing.
• Follows procedure F-61, Daily Billing Office Procedures.
• Maintains aged trial balances for patient accounts under 10% for accounts older than 120 days.
• Prepares and submits clean claims daily to insurance companies electronically or on paper.
• Works claims with missing information report, keeping it below 100 accounts.
• Answers questions from patients, hospital staff, and insurance companies.
• Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.
• Reviews weekly patient statements for correct balance due; rebills if needed.
• Insures claim information is complete and accurate before billing.
• Follows up with insurers on unpaid or rejected claims in a timely manner.
• Communicates insurance/billing changes with other Patient Account Clerks.
• Maintains accuracy and efficiency; adheres to BCMH standards.
