Job summary

Baraga County Memorial Hospital is seeking a Patient Account Clerk to support the Business Office. This 40-hour/week role handles data entry for billing and claims processing, answers patient inquiries, and maintains accurate accounts with attention to compliance and privacy.

The position requires high school education and billing exposure, with opportunities to support Admitting or Medical Records as needed within the Revenue Cycle team.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Billing certification or related experience preferred.
• Experience in business office practices, typing and data processing.
• Strong accuracy and communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information and work unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and inputs data required for billing.
• Maintains aged trial balances for patient accounts under 10%.
• Prepares and submits clean claims daily to insurers electronically or by paper when needed.
• Resolves patient billing inquiries and disputes.
• Follows up on unpaid or rejected claims in a timely manner.
• May assist in Admitting, Medical Records or Collections as needed.
