• Previous medical office, insurance verification, or patient account experience required.
• Experience with chemotherapy authorizations or oncology-related services strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance eligibility, benefits, and preauthorization processes required.
• Familiarity with electronic billing systems and practice management software preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
• Excellent communication and patient service skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and patient demographic information accurately and timely.
• Perform insurance verification through electronic billing systems, payer portals, and direct communication with insurance carriers.
• Obtain initial and ongoing pre-authorizations for applicable treatments and services.
• Enter authorization and insurance information into the practice management system accurately.
• Scan and maintain referral and authorization documentation within patient charts.
• Communicate authorization status to physicians, clinical staff, and patients as appropriate.
• Ensure all required patient and physician signatures are obtained on necessary documentation.
• Perform financial counseling with patients regarding insurance benefits, co-pays, patient responsibility, billing practices, and payment arrangements.
• Utilize Summary of Patient Reimbursement and Liability forms and waivers as needed.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of patient information at all times.
