Job summary

Citizens Medical Center is seeking an experienced AR Clerk to manage electronic remittances, EFT postings, and batch reconciliations.

You will review explanations of benefits, post adjustments, and investigate denials or unidentified payments in collaboration with management.

Qualifications

• Previous medical claims billing or three (3) years’ hospital business office experience
• One to two years of college preferred
• Computer and typing skills are required

Responsibilities

• Responsible for obtaining, posting, and balancing all electronic remittances to bank electronic fund transfers.
• Initiates electronic batch posting into Accounts Receivables software from electronic claims vendor.
• Balances batch postings to electronic Explanation of Benefits and/or Remittance Advices.
• Responsible for balancing electronic postings to amounts transferred to bank account via electronic funds transfers.
• Manually posts electronic funds transferred to the bank that are not set up to auto-post to patients’ accounts.
• Prepares daily report of all electronic funds transferred and posted into patient accounting system.
• Review Explanation of Benefits and/or Remittance Advices for denials, posting appropriate adjustment code to relieve patient account(s) of denied or non-covered items not billable to patient/guarantor.
• Distributes copies of denied claims to appropriate collector for follow-up or appeal process.
• Communicates with management and accounting any bank discrepancies identified.
• Investigates source of unidentified payments or lump-sum payouts by Medicare, Medicaid, or other insurance payers.
• Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance standards.
• Assists in the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
• Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings as required.
