TEKsystems is seeking a Patient Access Technician for the Admitting Department in Norfolk, VA. You will register patients for inpatient surgeries, input demographics and insurance details, collect copayments, and obtain signatures on treatment forms.
This contract role requires handling high-volume, fast-paced work with attention to data accuracy. Training is available, and EPIC experience is a plus. On-site position with competitive pay and benefits in a busy hospital setting.
Currently the patient registration techs in the ED are divided into 3 areas and they will be trained on all areas-
1. Quick Book - this is the most basic patient registration when they walk into the ER. They will get the patient name, DOB, basic demographic info to get them checked in. There is no insurance verification at this point - they will go straight to the triage nurse to go over systems.
2. Minor Care - This is bed side registration for patients that should be in and out pretty quickly. Bed side registration includes -insurance verification to confirm active policy, co-payment collection, authorization data entry and billing inquiry functions. Responsible for accurate data collection, documentation, and data retrieval with computerized systems - getting the rest of the demographic info needed
3. Main Treatment Area- this is the same process as minor care however these are for more serious patients - full registration

The admitting department is on the first floor of the hospital and it is extremely busy - they get alot of patient volume come through - every patient who will be admitted to the hospital checks in here
There are two openings for Patient Access Techs in the Admitting Department. They will register all patients coming in for inpatient surgeries at the hospital. Under direction of departmental leadership, the Patient Access Technician provides clerical and secretarial support for the patient care team and serves as a patient liaison for medical support services. Greets, instructs, directs and assists patients and visitors upon arrival to the service area. Facilitates the revenue cycle process to include but not limited to patient registration, insurance verification to confirm active policy, co-payment collection, authorization data entry and billing inquiry functions. Responsible for accurate data collection, documentation, and data retrieval with computerized systems. Works collaboratively with various departments on patient access related information. Conducts pre-registration and entrance verification for services. Provides coverage to assigned registration locations including those outside of primary work location or by task assignment based on operational needs

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
